Clinton, Mass.-based Nypro Healthcare plans to expand into more than 200,000 square feet space in the former Evergreen Solar Inc. building in nearby Devens, Mass., according to lease holders Hackman Capital Partners LLC and Calare Properties Inc.

The companies said Nypro expects to create 165 jobs at the facility. Nypro has been searching space to supplement the Clinton facility. However, the company declined to elaborate on its plans in Devens, noting that more information will be forthcoming at a later date.

Nypro, which was acquired earlier this year by Jabil Circuits Inc. of St. Petersburg, Fla., is rapidly expanding its health-care capabilities.

The Devens facility was built in 2008 by Evergreen Solar, which received about $50 million in state aid. It contained numerous and complex features including systems for air handling, humidification, air and process cooling, power supply and distribution, specialty gas distribution and waste water and hazardous material systems.

Hackman Capital, based in Los Angeles, and Calare Properties, of Hudson, Mass., acquired the property through an affiliated entity in April 2012. It redesigned the 448,000 square foot facility for resuse by multiple tenants.

About half of the facility has been leased to Paris-based Cie de Saint-Gobain, which used it to manufacture industrial crystals and ceramic systems.
